Support, Connection and Care for Women Facing Cancer
The Gold Coast Women’s Cancer Advocacy Group is making a powerful difference in the lives of women and families navigating cancer diagnoses – offering strength, support and connection through their online network and the WCS Haven in Nerang.
Since opening in August 2024, the Haven has become a vital resource hub, providing free access to wigs, mastectomy supplies, port cushions, medical aids, counselling, reiki, yoga, meditation, group therapy and more – all delivered with care by over 30 dedicated volunteers.
With over 925 members and growing, the Haven regularly hosts guest speakers, support sessions and wellbeing workshops – but needed help to improve sound and communication during group activities and events.
This year, Nerang RSL provided funding for a complete wireless sound system, including speakers and microphones to enhance accessibility and ensure every voice can be heard.

💜 Sheila’s Shack Nerang: Connection, Confidence & Community
Sheila’s Shack is a not-for-profit group nestled in Country Paradise Parklands, offering local women a safe, supportive space to connect, grow and thrive. With nearly 90 members, their calendar is packed with creative workshops, guest speakers and social events that inspire learning, build confidence and foster meaningful friendships.
Their work extends beyond their own group, with members regularly volunteering for community events and supporting local causes with open hearts. Nerang RSL has proudly supported Sheila’s Shack over the years including aspects of their recent clubhouse extension.
This year’s Community Fund grant will help purchase a new printer and storage shelving, allowing the team to continue delivering valuable programs and connection to women of all ages.

🎙️ Helping Every Voice Be Heard at Country Paradise Parklands
When members of the Nerang Country Paradise Association mentioned they were struggling to hear during meetings, we listened — and acted.
This year’s support from the Nerang RSL Community Fund is helping the Association purchase a new amplifier, ensuring clear audio at gatherings and improving communication across their many community groups.
Run entirely by volunteers, the Association oversees the much-loved Country Paradise Parklands — home to more than 800 members and a wide range of groups, including the Nerang Men’s Shed, Healing Hooves, Sheila’s Shack, River Keepers, Ediblescapes, Native Plants Gold Coast and Wild About Agility.
From hosting inclusive events to maintaining shared gardens and green spaces, the Nerang Country Paradise Association brings people together in meaningful ways — and we’re proud to continue backing their efforts in 2025.
