COHESIVE COMMUNITIES

The 2024 Round will close on Wednesday, 24 April 2024 @ 5pm.
Eligible applications must be submitted before this date.

Nerang RSL aims to contribute to the social cohesion of the community by:

Providing support to projects or service providers that improve the health and welfare of less advantaged community members
Support the initiatives that broaden the scope of sports participation within the local community
Support initiatives that increase and broaden the scope of arts, music and cultural participation and development within the local community
Support and encourage community groups who actively participate in the development of community activities
Support and develo innovate responses to identify community issues that impact on family life
Provide support to community issues that deliver community events

Applications close on 24th April 2024
Forms will be made available for download on this page or for collection from the front desk
Successful applicants will be notified by mail after the round has closed
Formal presentation takes place in (approximately) July each year
Funds are disbursed after formal presentation takes place
Nerang RSL reserves the right to use images obtained throughout the funding process for promotional purposes.
Management decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into

Broadwater Dragons Paddling Club
$500.00

President Rebecca McCarthy, Vice President Julie Sara and representatives from the Broadwater Dragons Paddling Club accept a cheque for $500 to assist with the cost of replacing tyres, stolen from their boat trailers whilst in storage at Arthur Earle Park.
The funds will also assist with the purchase of security wheel clamps to deter further incidents.

Erin Lockwood Racing
$1000.00

With over 70 riders in her coaching groups, elite BMX champion Erin Lockwood makes many sacrifices to ensure the next generation of athletes have what they need to succeed. Returning from injury with a shot at the top, receiving team funding of $1000 to assist with team uniforms and track hire will help Erin to help her team while allowing her to focus on her own career.

Gold Coast Cycling Club
$1400.00

Tim Hutch, President of the Gold Coast Cycling Club accepts a cheque of $1400 to assist with providing free training sessions every Tuesday and Thursday until June 2024. The club aims to attract adult riders as mentors and support development of junior riders to become mentors as their experience grows, ensuring continuity for their club and sport.

Accepting funding of $1000, the Gold Coast Multiple Birth Association will use the funds to assist with their annual equipment storage costs ensuring vital funds remain available for use by local Gold Coast families.

Gold Coast Stingrays Vice President Matthew Mills and a junior member accept a cheque for $2000 to assist with replacement of a 3m x 6m marquee stolen from their storage sheds in 2022.

Wayne Scott, Hope Hughes and youth members of the Gold Coast Rugby League Referees Association, accept a cheque for $5000 to assist with training, uniforms, equipment and further developing training programs for their team of referees throughout the year.

GCCUSA Secretary Michael Guy receives a cheque for $1500 to assist with training and support for their existing members to help improve their skills.

GC Volleyball Club President Phil Kelly receives $4000 to assist their junior coaches with fees, travel and training so they can concentrate on further developing their skills without the worry of additional financial burdens.

Vice President Marianne Whalan accepts funding of $3256 on behalf of Healing Hooves based at Country Paradise Parklands in Nerang, to help support their Veteran Equine program and provide food and care for their rescue horses.

Hinterland Tennis Club
$800.00

Continuing our association with the Hinterland Tennis Club, Treasurer Joan O'Brien is presented with a cheque for $800. The funds will be used to purchase new outdoor tables for their courts as their current ones are in need or replacement.

$9000.00

MNDCC Club & Committee Members Adam Dale, Tom Mahoney, Brad Wilson and Rhys Finn accept a cheque for $9000, to assist with reducing costs for their members. Funds will also be invested in their development program and for the replacement of site screens at the grounds.

Nerang Family Funanza
$1100.00

Held earlier this year at Nerang Country Paradise Parklands, the Nerang Family Funanza was a fun family event with free rides for kids, activities for families and stalls for the community. Together with a major donation from Division 5 Councillor, Peter Young, Nerang RSL contributed $1100 to help stage this free community event.

Representatives from Nerang Cardinals Baseball Club were presented with a cheque for $4000, to assist with the purchase of new uniforms, equipment and first aid kits as well as investment in their coaching development program.

Continuing our association with the Nerang Celebrates event, committee members accept a cheque for $4300, to assist wiht the annual firework celebration at this year's event.

National Seniors Australia (Nerang)

Funding of $1266 was accepted by the committee of the National Seniors Australia Nerang Branch to assist with the purchase of a new laptop for their organisation.

Nerang Community Garden
$1919.00

A wonderful asset to the local community, last year Nerang RSL assisted the Nerang Community Garden Committee to purchase a new self propelled lawn mower. This year, the committee returned to accept funding of $1919, to purchase new garden equipment to help with further development of the community gardens.

Members of the Nerang Pony Club accept $1000 to help purchase new equipment and jumps which will help facilitate rallies, clinics and competitions here on the Coast.

Jon Crouch and Ken Perryman, Secretary and Treasurer of Nerang Men's Shed accept funding of $600 to help purchase new tools, providing a safer space for their members to practice their crafts.

Nerang Country Paradise Parklands
$2530.00

Peter Cardona, Vice President of the Country Paradise Parklands Committee is presented with a cheque for $2530 to assist with the purchase and replacement ofnew stackable chairs and a chair trolley which will be available for use by community groups utilising the facilities at the Parklands and minimising the risk of injury to volunteers moving equipment.

Nerang Neighbourhood Centre
$2000.00

Lisa Souwer, Food Service Coordinator and representatives from the Nerang Neighbourhood Centre accept a cheque for $2000, to assist with stock for their monthly BBQ Fundraiser at Bunnings. The funds will also assist with the purchase of work shirts and new trestle tables which would otherwise be purchased by volunteers themselves.

Nerang Roosters Junior Rugby League Football Club
$5000.00

With 27 teams playing in the 2023 season, Nerang Roosters JRLFC applied for funding to purchase additional uniforms and training resources to support their growth in numbers. This year, Nerang RSL contributed $5000 to the Club, adding to last year's contribution of $5990 with Mrs Sonya Lee and President Giles Heitia attending to accept the cheque.

The Nerang Police Station & Associated Stations Social Soccer team received funding of $780, to assist the team with registration for two competitions and new uniforms for 10 of their players.

Nerang RSL Swimming Club
$2113.00

Expecting up to 100 swimmers to participate in an upcoming carnival at Nerang Aquatic Centre on November 18, the Swim Club applied for assistance to purchase the necessary equipment required to host such an event. Bringing together clubs from across the Coast, Treasurer Craig Busing accepted a cheque for $2113 to assist with the event.

Nerang Bulls Rugby Union Club
$2000.00

Celebrating 40 years with a big celebration in July, the Nerang Bulls Rugby Union Club received funding of $2000 to provide equipment, party supplies, kids activities and entertainment for their 350+ members and their familes from the local community. In 2022, Nerang RSL also provided $2000 to assist with a fence rebuild on the playing grounds.

Nerang Soccer Club received $5000 to purchase more training equipment for their junior division and to provide coaching courses for new coaches and referees. Nerang RSL is proud to continue its long association with the Nerang Soccer Club.

Providing a bursary to one Year 7, 8 or 9 student to attend a cultural tour in Melbourne saw HOD Many Acott receiving funding of $1570 to assist.

Nerang State High School - P&C
$2250.00

The cost of living crisis has impacted many families, so it's no surprise the Nerang State High School P&C's initiative to provide free breakfast for all students every Tuesday has been well attended. To help the P&C continue providing this service to its students, Nerang RSL provided funding of $2250 to help with food purchases.

Game schedules can often conflict, so it's not ideal when 3 teams have to share a single playing kit. Accepting a cheque for $3000, representatives from Nerang State High School Rugby League Team look forward to being able to purchase new playing kits and equipment for their teams.

Queensland Justices Association
$3000.00

QJA Gold Coast received funding of $1900, to assist with the purchase of a new laptop and webcam, to help them to deliver online training programs. You can find a Justice of the Peace at our venue every Monday from 10am until 12 noon.

Roosters Hockey Club
$2600.00

With more people taking up hockey competitively, the need to replace equipment such as hockey sticks, balls and masks is increasingly necessary. Roosters President Andrew Vink, received a cheque for $2600, to assist with these replacement costs.

With growing numbers, limited space and deteriorating outdoor furniture, the Sheila's Shack received funding of $1800, to purchase 60 new stackable chairs for use at their club house.

To assist with the purchase of craft materials and hire of space to hold workshops, Facilitators Lorna Puru and Shirley Johnson, accepted a cheque for $1500.

$500.00

To assist with table hire and prize money for their bi-annual orchid shows at Nerang Country Paradise Parklands, representatives from the Orchid Society were present to accept a cheque for $500.

Tallebudgera Surf Lifesaving Club
$5000.00

With a goal to purchase a new surf boat and trailer for the use of surf boat crews, the Tallebudgera Surf Lifesaving Club received funding of $5000 in this year's funding round.

To assist with providing their members with a subsidy on uniforms, representatives from Te Taumata Kapa Haka group receive funding of $1000 in the 2023 Funding Round.

$1500.00

P&C President Claire Muir received a cheque for $1500, to assist with the purchase of a new fridge or laptop for use by the P&C Committee.
